Publishers often ask for suggestions on how to earn more through Adroll. Fortunately, there are a number of ways (many of them simple) to fine tune your use of the system to maximize earnings. We’ve put together the following list to provide a single resource to answer this question.

1. Use the ad sizes that advertisers prefer.

While small units such as the 125×125 button are popular among bloggers because they don’t take up much space, they’re not preferred by major advertisers for the same reason. Brands don’t like these small units because they don’t offer the ability to present an engaging message. The IAB defines the universal ad package as: 300×250, 728×90, 160×600, and 180×150 (less common). Perhaps the easiest way to earn more through Adroll is to incorporate these ad sizes. Often times, this is an easy switch. For example, if you’re using a 120×600 sky scraper, it usually won’t have a drastic affect on your layout to switch to a 160×600. The same is true for switching from a 200×200 to a 300×250.

2. Improve your ad space quality.
One of Adroll’s unique features is that we provide advertisers with a measurement of an ad space’s quality using the metrics that advertisers find important:

    • The ad space is above the fold
    • The page isn’t cluttered with ads, limit it to 3 at most
    • The size of the ad space, the larger the better
    • The performance of past campaigns

3. Connect with Advertisers on Adroll.
There are probably advertisers already using Adroll that would be interesting to your readers, and would be great for your site. Help them find you by joining their Brand Roll. Advertisers use their Brand Roll to communicate with interested publishers by sending out exclusive information, promotions, and discounts you can offer your readers. The publishers participating in a Brand Roll also appear in a site list that the advertiser can use for setting up ad campaigns.

4. Invite advertisers.
Do you know a local business that would want to advertise on your site? Adroll makes it easy for you to invite advertisers you know to run campaigns in your site. They don’t even need to have their own ad creative as Adroll has a system that will help them make ads perfect for your site right in the flow. This also makes life easier for you. You don’t need to worry about manually putting ads up and down, or asking people for payment.

5. Increase your traffic.
This is probably obvious to most, but it’s still worth mentioning. Adroll is all about helping smaller sites make money, but there is still a correlation with size of the audience you reach, and the earning potential of your site. There are many small publishers that are constantly sold out because they have great sites, reaching very targeted audiences, with high quality ad spaces. That said, the more inventory you have available, the more you can sell. Adroll even provides you with a great tool for increasing your site’s traffic, the Community Traffic Exchange.
